A recent journal article performed a meta-analysis of recent Binge Eating Disorder research and found that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) given via a professional and certain medications have been shown to be effective treatment in the battle with Binge Eating Disorder. A meta-analysis is taking the results of many studies and finding common themes that support, in this case, Binge Eating Disorder treatments.
I am a huge proponent of CBT, as I have seen its effectiveness in my own practice. The Binge Eating Disorder program at Walden Behavioral Care has been a leader in bringing these therapies to those suffering from Binge Eating Disorder in the form of an Intensive Outpatient Program specifically designed around CBT strategies and principles. As a clinician at Walden I have seen people improve using CBT with a clinician and continue to use CBT as a primary modality in my own private practice.
